This season has been especially important to the ATP player, Gilles Müller, who is 34 years old and is excelling thanks to some great recent results.

16-year old player Claire Liu won the first series of the $25,000 Academia Sanchez-Casal Women’s Pro-circuit Open, the Svetlana Kuznetsova Cup. Liu, who came from the qualies, played 12 matches during 8 days and made it victoriously to the final, beating the two-time NCAA Singles Title Champion Danielle Rose Collins.

The Sánchez-Casal Academy is currently holding the Svetlana Kuznetsova Cup series, a $25,000 Women’s Pro-Circuit tournament held over two weeks. The series made its debut last week with a highly competitive draw, including rising stars Taylor Townsend, ranked No. 134 in the word, Kayla Day (WTA No. 143), and Samantha Crawford, once ranked No. 98 in the world. It is the first time that an event of this kind in women’s tennis has been held in Southwest Florida.

As he walks into the room, all the ASC Florida student-athletes stare at him. You can feel their admiration towards him and the curiosity about what he is going to explain to them.

It’s a Wednesday afternoon in December. On this day every week, Sanchez-Casal players have a group mental session, where they work on their short and long-term training and learning objectives.

Today the dynamics are different since there is a special guest speaker, former #4 ranked ATP player Robin Söderling. The Swede, who won a total of 10 ATP tournaments, may best be remembered as the man who beat Rafa Nadal at the French Open in 2009 and prevented the player from Manacor from winning his fifth straight Coupe des Mousquetaires.
