When they talk about the greatest coach, make sure it’s you
In Sanchez-Casal, a coach is not only the one who feeds drills, and corrects the player’s game. The coach is the tutor, the one with the power on his/her hands to develop the game of the player. A coach is a person who is responsible for a group of players, the one that creates a connection with those players that make them feel secure. When you watch tennis TV don’t you see the player looking for the blithers after a point to make eye contact communication with his/her coach that nobody understands but them? Well, that is the connection I am talking about. The coach has to know the player’s needs, he/she has to know when to push the player and when to engage with the right motivation.
RETURN TO TRAINING PROGRAM
At Academia Sánchez-Casal Barcelona, we want to return to training as soon as possible, and also as safely as possible. For this reason, we have designed a specific plan that will facilitate the recovery of the physical and mental conditions of our annual, semester and monthly program players. After the period of confinement and inevitable disruption to the usual training sessions this has caused, we understand that each player will have unique and individual needs.
COVID 19: THE MOST DIFFICULT GAME
My competing friends, we have in front of us one of the most difficult games of our lives. We are now facing the toughest player anyone has ever faced before: Mr. Covid 19. Because of this, authorities in large parts of the world’s countries have decreed house confinement.
Letter to our Class of 2020, by Jennifer Ferrara
You are the class of 2020 and we are now all separated and isolated and in countries far flung and near. We are living a moment in history that your children and grandchildren will read about in text books. You are on the cusp of adulthood in a time that now more than ever needs leaders, creative thinkers, scientists, artists, activists, etc. You are the people who need to face what will be left as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic – the economic and political ramifications that will be with us for a very long time.
ASC & ESIS ALUMNI COMPLETES EXTREME CHALLENGE
Sam Bencheghib is an ESIS / ASC Class of 2015 Alumni but he is also an environmental activist who just completed an ocean to ocean, six month, 3,000+ miles run across the United States, from NYC to LA, in order to raise awareness about plastic pollution in the oceans.
Sam wrote to us at ASC and ESIS this week with an update on his journey. I recommend you take a moment and live the experience that Sam has dedicated himself to over the past six months. They are worth the minutes of your time!
The Sánchez-Casal Academy & ES International School Go Green
What is happening in the oceans?
This is a question once asked by a young ASC student-athlete. He was enrolled in Sánchez-Casal Barcelona and graduated in 2016 with clear goals and objectives of making a big impact on the world. Today, we want to share his success with all of you and show you our little piece of change that we are making, thanks to the inspiration of one of our alumni, Sam Bencheghib.
FROM NÁPOLES TO NAPLES, TO THE ENDLESS LOVE FOR TENNIS
From one director to another:
Naples was a unique experience to us: The practices, the USTA tournaments, the cultural exchanges, were unique and unrepeatable. The tennis academy in Naples has experienced a full week of useful knowledge to be able to adapt in our training method
Artur Diyarov- The passion of becoming an ASC coach
By Artur Diyarov, coach at Academia Sánchez-Casal
I Enrolled in Sanchez-Casal Barcelona in 2008 as a student and graduated in 2013, I am from a little town in Russia and I went from student-athlete in the Barcelona family to coach in the ASC family. I have worked in 3 different continents, in Sanchez-Casal Barcelona, in Sanchez-Casal Florida, and I am currently in Sanchez-Casal Nanjing situated in China.
AFTER 20 YEARS, WE ASK OURSELVES WHO WE REALLY ARE
Normally it is very difficult to talk about yourself, but tennis gives players the habit of having to review ourselves, to find out what are our areas of improvement, and makes us create new habits to reach our goals. I love this process and I try to do it personally every now and then. I’m a coach, and therefore I need to be coached and coach others.
After 20 years of making opportunities in tennis and education and being a world renowned academy in Europe, I tried to apply the same process to our Tennis Academy and School, ASC and ESIS.
Fitness, one pillar of the ASC 360 Performance System
Fitness in tennis represents a very strong and important pillar on the players preparation; a well designed physical plan can be the key factor for a successful match result. At ASC daily physical training is composed of 1 hour of athlete-specific performance training; working on different aspects including: speed, power, agility, quickness, coordination, balance, and core.
