Rafa Nadal and his greatness

Once again I find myself sitting at my computer, writing about Rafa. The thought that this is the last time I do it as a player saddens me deeply. Rafa has accompanied me these last 25 years in my post-player stage and I have been able to tell everything about him on television, in newspaper articles or in technical analysis. I think I have written so much about Rafa that I have analyzed him more than myself, I have compared him to the Little Prince, to the Greek gods, to extraterrestrials, I have explained his technique, his tactics, I have praised his physique and not to mention his head, trying to give a personal version to feel different. In studying his trajectory what I have tried to do is to talk about his legacy, and today I will try to explain what has led him to his GREATNESS.

Daniel Caverzaschi, a role model

Daniel Caverzaschi was born on July 11, 1993, with a malformation in his right leg. He is a role model. A national and world reference in the world of tennis. His ability has allowed him to achieve personal and sports success.

In the Emilio Sanchez Academy, we are fortunate to have him as a part of our academy, a part of our identity, a player who is next to us. We are lucky to see him improve every day, and we consider him an example for young people to follow. On Wednesday, June 15th we had the opportunity to listen to him, he talked in front of families and ES students who were graduating from the senior class of 2022. Daniel told us his story, making it a story full of motivation and overcoming daily challenges.

Fernanda begins to write her story

What is success? Winning? Qualifying for Roland Garros and Wimbledon? Or get to write inspiring stories that reach people through tennis? For me, Fernanda does this last thing. Fernanda Contreras is a story of tennis, which motivates, and that, above all, marks the difference between the common; She is special, her way of listening, looking, speaking, playing, and her way of surrendering does not leave unnoticed anyone and, when she is on the court she becomes someone else.

Nadal the last of the mohicans

There are no words to describe Rafa’s feat. It’s my 14th article talking about him in Paris, and I’m running out of adjectives. After explaining the keys to his technical evolution, I now prefer to highlight the key reading and adaptation attributes of his transformation.

In recent years, Rafa has made a constant evolution of his game. He was already an excellent player on the defense side. From an early age, he managed to enter the counter-attack zone and even be offensive with his forehand, but always with the premise that, once he had control of the court, he had to maintain that position and dominate without giving breath to the opponent always with the idea of not failing or even defending, again and again, or whatever it took

ASC: MEETING POINT FOR OUR FORMER STUDENTS

At Sánchez-Casal Academy, we do love to welcome our former students. Many of them visit us, especially during summer, and come to enjoy what was their second home for a while. The academy becomes a meeting point for former colleagues, who now live far from each other, but who take advantage of their holiday to meet again on the court. They also visit us to train, to keep fit or to improve aspects of their game with their former coaches.

Marc Feliu and Diego Herrera, from Class of 2018, visited us this summer and shared their time and experiences with us.

LET YOUR CHILDREN FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS

One day, our children might tell us that they want to be a professional tennis player. And we realize that yes, they have talent. But we know how difficult it is to become a professional athlete. Pursuing their dream will take many hours of their leisure time and also many hours of study. Could it be worth to try it out? Or do we have to push this idea out of their minds?
