National coaches day shouldn’t be a one day thing
On National coaches day, coaches from around the world are appreciated by all their athletes, institutions, and countries. But what do you think about it? Go back in time, when you were a young player, wearing oversized tennis shirts a backward hat grinding on the court every day. You were playing intense and long matches, traveling away from home, and staying at random hotels. When do you think about these situations, who was next to you? Your coach. At that moment you just saw him/her as your coach.
Hey mom, they have a foosball table at the tennis camp!
It’s summertime! It is the time of the year when I look forward to meeting my friends, so I can spend time together and enjoy the summer weather. During this time my parents are always working, which means they don’t have much time to spend with me or my siblings. It was then that they came across the Sanchez-Casal academy in Florida.
Another great event for the books- ASC/YPO tennis spring retreat
This past weekend we had a special visit from a group called YPO. YPO is a community of leaders that are global executives. Our academy was lucky enough to be able to host the first YPO event thanks to Jamin the leader of the community and his team. When Emilio Sanchez told us to prepare a brochure for the event we were confused, we didn’t know how important the YPO would be and what would be the event like. We started digging into what we could do to welcome this group of important people into our home, our academy and make them enjoy a tennis retreat where they can rest from their business routine and discover the love for the sport. We came up with a great program that had needs & leads with some light breakfast to start off, personalized clinics, competition matches in singles and doubles, hydro tennis lessons, stretching sessions, dinner food themes, and speeches from 3 of the most important people of this sport. Let me tell you a little bit about it. The program was planned as a tennis retreat weekend.
When they talk about the greatest coach, make sure it’s you
In Sanchez-Casal, a coach is not only the one who feeds drills, and corrects the player’s game. The coach is the tutor, the one with the power on his/her hands to develop the game of the player. A coach is a person who is responsible for a group of players, the one that creates a connection with those players that make them feel secure. When you watch tennis TV don’t you see the player looking for the blithers after a point to make eye contact communication with his/her coach that nobody understands but them? Well, that is the connection I am talking about. The coach has to know the player’s needs, he/she has to know when to push the player and when to engage with the right motivation.
Covid made our ASC family stronger
2020 is proving to be a strange, very strange year. What started as a new disease in a city in a small part of the world, ended up being a global pandemic. Little by little, we saw how countries were closing their borders, how citizens were staying at home. We also closed: first the academy in China, then one in Barcelona, and finally both in the USA.
RETURN TO TRAINING PROGRAM
At Academia Sánchez-Casal Barcelona, we want to return to training as soon as possible, and also as safely as possible. For this reason, we have designed a specific plan that will facilitate the recovery of the physical and mental conditions of our annual, semester and monthly program players. After the period of confinement and inevitable disruption to the usual training sessions this has caused, we understand that each player will have unique and individual needs.
COVID 19: THE MOST DIFFICULT GAME
My competing friends, we have in front of us one of the most difficult games of our lives. We are now facing the toughest player anyone has ever faced before: Mr. Covid 19. Because of this, authorities in large parts of the world’s countries have decreed house confinement.

Mr. Eddie Herr, I am Missing You
In the US, one of the most important dates of the year is Thanksgiving Day. After living here for seven years, we have started to understand this tradition and to feel part of it. The only problem is that when you have a tennis academy for kids from 10 to 18 years old, most of them have a goal to compete in Eddie Herr at IMG Academy on that weekend. – by Emilio Sanchez Vicario
Fitness, one pillar of the ASC 360 Performance System
Fitness in tennis represents a very strong and important pillar on the players preparation; a well designed physical plan can be the key factor for a successful match result. At ASC daily physical training is composed of 1 hour of athlete-specific performance training; working on different aspects including: speed, power, agility, quickness, coordination, balance, and core.
